“The Case of the Serial Luddite”

Recently had a piece published in the latest issue of Twisted Vine Literary Arts Journal. The piece, “The Case of the Serial Luddite,” is an attempt at a Borgesian detective story (attempt being the operative word here – I’m not crazy enough to think I can pull off the brilliance of Borges). In any event, if you have the time, I’d be honored if you give the piece a read. Also, as a side note, the cover art is pretty lovely: looks like a protest of the human face.

The 1001 Nights Podcast

If you have the opportunity, please check out “The 1001 Nights Podcast,” a collaborative project devoted to retelling the tales of The Arabian Nights through modern and fantastic adaptations. The podcast is produced by the wonderful duo of Nathan Kane and Morgan Dubin. I was fortune enough to work recently with Nathan and Morgan on a retelling of “King Yunan and the Sage Duban.” If you’ve always wanted to become more familiar with The Arabian Nights but was never quite able to get past that four-syllable word, “Scheherazade,” now’s your chance to sit back and listen to a voice-actor do all the work for you. Worst-case scenario: you find yourself not amused and partake in the sultanic pleasure of terminating the podcast. But if you listen from the beginning and hear Nathan Kane’s excellent adaptation of the first night, I have a feeling that’s not going to happen…

Telling stories to stay alive

Story Behind the Story

Had a piece accepted by the online literary magazine: Upcoming4me. The piece is a “story behind the story” for my debut novel, How to Dispose of Dead Elephants. It explores some of the origins and inspirations behind the work. Reading it may or may not induce a Wizard of Oz effect (“just a hunched-over dude behind a curtain with a typewriter?”). Or, ideally, it may just make you intrigued enough to check out the novel for yourself…
